Dear Arun,

I am sharing the experience of implementing e learning in our Organization:

We are launching e-learning initiative in our Organization with effect from 1st November 2009 as a pilot project, specifically aimed at improving the product knowledge of junior-mid level Sales executives located at branches accross India. The entire work has been done inhouse by a cross functional team comprising of representatives from Marketing, IT and HR Teams.

We decided that we shall have e learning modules aimed specifically at improving the hard skills , ie functional skills of employees, so that the learning has immediate and tangible application at work and hence serves a stimulus for learning. Hence, as a pilot project, we are developing modules for a line department, i.e Sales and we are incorporating the self evaluation into the Sales training modules.

Our MD is taking keen interest in this learning initiative and is the chief mentor for the program. With his active support, e-learning was made into an agenda-point in both annual Sales conference held earlier as well as half-yearly Sales review meeting held very recently at our head office. In both the meetings, presenations were made by HR team on e-learning to the assembled Regional and Branch Heads, followed by question-answer sessions.

Once the pilot program succeeds, our aim will be to extend it to other Departments by having tailor made modules in functional skills from April 2010 onwards.

You are welcome to contact me for any further detail.
