Greetings!
This is for the first time I have ever joined an HR community like this and I am very much fascinated with the way it works.
I was previously working with an MNC in Pune which is known for its Work Culture. In my current organization , I seek to develop a very good Work Culture. But the people here do not realize the need for learning and personal development. I have successfully started with Trainings but I want to have few more suggestions which can help buidling better Work Culture.
Please help with your inputs/suggestions.

Savitha

I seriously feel connectivity between different departments and employees of the organization is very essential factor, for a better work culture.
Inorder to bind the employees try out some training programs or arrange gatherings, let them involve and absorb properly, they wud infact comeback with desired inputs for a better work culture.
All the best

Thanks!
As mentioned we have started with various kinds of managerial and behavioral trainings and also organize events very frequently now. Since my joining I do see a lot of change but feel that sense of professionalism is not there. A spirit of competitiveness is missing...do help me know there is any way i can get this kind of attitude in!

Dear Savitha,
You can organise for Outbound training activities as a cross functional team, Special events like family day, team get-together on friendship day to make people come close first.
Then you can introduce some performance award scheme, interdepartmental achievement competition.
Organise for regular scheduled training programme, announce special prizes for the depts from which the participation is more, through which you can improve the team work. Once the team work is improved definitely, the learning culture will also get improved, because people who enjoy the benefits in the team will make others to experience the same.

Savitha,
Identify and analyse the factors which support change and which are the ones inhibiting it.
eg restructuring/ business process reengineering leading to job losses. herein you need to counter doubts/ fears with counselling sessions + internal job postings + customisning severance benefits on a case basis + helping people in picking up new skills for employement etc.
secondly it seems employee engagement is at all time low. what are the causal factors for the same. what does the senior managment want. do they really appreciate/ reward employees on good performance or is lobbying the norm.
warmers/ icebreakers like adventure trips/ picnics etc wont help until you identify the factors behind employee disatisfaction.
