Dear Deepak,
MIS is the most important department now a days. What to do for next level :
1. Get update yourself with new software available in the markets.
2. Create knowledge data centre with you ..what is this.. I explain you with example. create different types of report which shall help the "top management", analysis which your boss wanted to do but he doesn't get time to do
3. For next level, patience and leadership are two skill required, upgrade yoruself.
4. Create harmony among your team mates, how that you need to think.
5. Last for growth.. i.e. "positive attitude" towards everything. this can change your life.

Dear Deepak,
I feel MIS has a good scope. Specially in telecom sector and finance sector.
But for that your must have a few prerequisite capabilities- ie- expert in MS-excel, MS access and some hands on database s/w.

dear all
MIS - management information service indicates how u can inform your boss in a format that suits your boss to take further steps in achieving company's target.
1. u have to collect datas
2. compare these data with the present data
3. data may vary from organisation to sector
4. compare these data with the budget
5. it depends on the field u are working
6.type of mis needed for the company to grow.
u have to struggle hard to achieve your target.
Happy dipavali to all
