Hi,

SAP is "Systems Applications and Products" in data processing.
SAP is the fourth largest software company in the world. It ranks after Microsoft, IBM and Oracle.

There are three major divisions in SAP jobs.
1) SAP Functional
2) SAP Technical
3) SAP Administration

SAP Functional:
SAP Functional consultants are responsible for configuring the SAP system and end user interaction to collect business requirements. Consultants design functional specifications.
There are various Functional modules in SAP. They are -
SAP SD - Sales and Distribution
SAP MM - Materials Management
SAP FICO - Finance and Controlling
SAP PP - Production Planning
SAP WM - Warehouse Management
SAP HR - Human Resource Etc.

SAP Technical:
SAP Technical consultants are responsible for developing programs by using ABAP programming language. Consultants design technical specifications by analyzing and understanding the functional specifications.
Generally SAP technical consultants should have cross functional knowledge.
That means they should be able to work on SAP SD , MM and FICO etc modules.

SAP Administration
SAP Administration consultants are responsible for installing and maintaining SAP servers. Consultants should know SAP BASIS.
