Dear Suresh,
we have been facing the same problem.
even guys with 6+, 7+ yrs of experiance are doing the same thing.
we are taking their alternate numbers from them.
this has helped us a bit for following up with the candidates, we also call the candidates stating that we are calling from the client's place and sms them like from the client's side.
These measures have helped us a bit to manage.

Be clear when you speak to the candidate about the interview call. Talk to them about commitment and taking appointment of important people at the company. Judge if they are assertive and interested in attending the interview or are confused whether they are ready or not for the interview. Only when you feel convinced, go ahead and fix up the appointment. Else, in telephonic rounds even a mouse might appear to be a Tiger, but when you extend an invitation, a Tiger will jump in proactively and if its a mouse, it will run away to hide in its burrow.....................................rgrds

Yeah, quite true, you must always ascertain how serious the candidate is and never send over smart or casual candidate however good he may seem to be.

Dear Suresh,
If the candidate is not turning up even if you arrange the schedule, that may indicate following:
1. Candidate is not so serious about his work.
2. He is irresponsible.
3. He may be an overconfident, who might be thinking that lot's of opportunities are waiting there for him.
So, it's better you don't follow up with such candidates and utilise your time & energy for searching good candidates.

Dear Suresh,
3 Most reason
1. Salary Package which you offered to him
2. Brand Name in the market
3. His Situation ( Which makes him to do So )
We are making mistakes during the screening the resume.
Thanks,

As per my suggestion – Your first call is enough to check interest level of every candidate.
• Your first call should be a professional
• Don’t force candidate to apply for Job
• Don’t give him liberty to think for high CTC ( Don’t make expectation high)
• Always check candidates’ current & his preferred location & don’t force in not interested to relocate
• Check his Expectation in terms of his Objective, CTC, Role etc..
Wish you all the best

Hi Suresh,

I own a placement consultancy, initially mine was one man army, where I will be signing up the agreements with clients and also call up candidates and line them up.

I'll be sending nearly 30 candidates list to the client but at last hardly 4 or 5 would turn up to the interview.

It creates bad impression on me for the clients.

Reasons for not turning up to the interview is LAZINESS

If not this consultancy another consultancy will provide offer for the same company, so these people easily refuse to go and attend the interview.

Then, I have decided to add one sentence whenever I call up the candidates for interview, that is...

"If you are interested with this profile, let me know I can send your details to resume, if you are not interested and saying S no and not picking up the call will not be encouraged."

If you do the same, your name will be removed from our database and no more further openings will be informed also will send your details to the clients as like candidates refuse to attend the interview, so then they wont be giving you an oppo again. "

Say this... immediately you'll get a reply as...

no mam, actually, tomo i have some personal work and have to go ther, here..
You might think, as like all these are wasting of time..

but If you do this, you'll come to know who is really interested or not..

you no need to give fake info's to the clients and no need to waste your valuable time by following irresponsible fellows as well.

I think.. I've spoke much...

Anyways..

Hope atleast this might help you 1% to solve your headache.

Take Care

SEE you are following a totally professional discipline. But it is resulting into like cheating ( not turning up after confirmation) MR.Dhanu,Meet,SAM have also advised you properly I Aagree wit them. But somehow HR has to run the show without inviting embrassment. NOW You may try exactly opposite to professionalism.

Managing the behaviour of a candidate is a tough job always. There could be many factors that deter a candidate to meet the interview date.

May be s/he is already in a job similar to the one being offered and s/he sees no advantage in appearing for the interview.

S/He is not allowed leave to attend for the interview.

S/He is not well.

S/he not like to travel to a far off place.

S/he dissuaded from leaving the existing job.

S/he may not be interested in job at all and S/he just says yes to keep you amused.

Just keep a constant watch over the behaviour of the candidate and one who skips the two interviews (after confirming for the same) may be dropped for six months for further calls. This may be made clear to him/her.

Moreover in the call letter/mail it should be made clear that if he is not interested, s/he should give a reason for the same.

In case s/he is interested, skipping the interview will be viewed as a serious indiscipline and a behavioural disorder and s/he will be barred for further calling for next six months. He will be re-inducted in the recruitment process only if he gives an undertaking in writing not to repeat in future.
