i m student of MBA(HR) Final yr,
I m very much interested in in this field even i m ready to work with any kind of company at any salary. Even I m sure dat i can cary the most of the activities of HR very well, but the problem is that i m not good enough in my communication skill which is the most important skill required for the HR s. so can u suggest me how to tackle with this in shorter period of time..

Hi Savita

For anything you do in life, a clear goal /vision, adequate motivation / enthusiasm, hard work / discipline and the ability to take risks/ challenges are critical attributes.

However if you are seeking help in improving your communication skills in a short time, I am afraid it is not so easy. I presume when you refer to communication skills you also mean that you want to improve upon your English Language skills too. What you primarily require is the key attributes called 'discipline' and 'enthusiasm' with which you can achieve anything you want.

Your enthusiasm is the reason you wrote in at Citehr. The next test is to
be disciplined and follow the suggestions given here.

1. My first suggestion is to read as much in English as possible. A
standard daily English Newspaper and the Readers Digest have very good
reading material.

2. Make more English speaking friends and make a determined effort
to speak only in English, even if you keep forgetting words, or tend
to stammer or your friends tend to laugh at you. This will require a
lot of will power but believe me you will soon improve.

3. I would also suggest you try to learn at least 3 -5 new words
and look up the meaning in a dictionary. then try and use these words
in your daily work and in your communication.

4. If you still feel that professional help is needed then you will
have to attend English speaking classes

5. You must also use WORD to type in your written communication and try to correct the errors that show up. This is quick and easy way to improve your written skills. eg. there are a few errors in what you have typed in Citehr regarding your problem, which could easily have been corrected before posting it. Avoid all tendency to use SMS language, short forms, slang etc.

6. Finally, if you can, do visit my blogs listed below regularly and try to learn
the new words in it and also be inspired by it. You can click on the

Hi Savita,
I am also a MBA(HR) student, and the problem u r facing today is same as I had. I agree that the above suggestions given by him are fruitful, but i suggest you reading newspaper can't improve your communication skill, i am telling this through my experience, read newspapers for your knowledge, but for improving communication, you should read fictions, Stories etc and that too-of your interest.

Hi All,

Good communication results from the following foundations ::

1. Interest in people - smiling face, being approachable, helping attitude, trusting people, being trustworthy.
2. General & Professional Knowledge - Lack of knowledge forces people to keep quite during discussions.
3. Expressing yourself fully with proper body language.
4. Language skills
5. Reading books, novels, newspaper, magazines etc.

The Priority is exactly this. The English Language skills are not as important as the other issues.
However the general impression is that whoever can blabber well in English is a good communicator.
This requirement is valid only for News Presenters, not for others.

The points given by Jacob are also very valid and comprehensive.

The bottomline is that good communication is a combination of several factors which I have listed.
Spoken English Skills is one of the issue but not the only issue.

If you want to improve your communication skills, you have to focus on your foundations.

I think communication is important first of all
1- You must be able to communicate ur ideas ur thoughts ur views or to respond any query of anyone either in Hindi or English
2-I think you must command it on subject and general communication not only focus should be on English only
3-Day by day if you able to cmmunicate successfully you can go ahead for improving English commuication too
4- I will suggest apart from above listed suggestions by our colleageus i would like to add you must practice conversation in english in your circle friends or family or your society members without hesisation if you can do this no one can stop you from acquiring success
5-Since you are a MBA student so you must know and follow basic principles of effective communication that all applies to enrich you communication skills.

i am very glad to say you, you have very much intrested to improve your english communication skill if you keep on telling i wnt improve my english communiction u cant it so u havt read english news papers english novels any story book and not enough for only reading once finished reading u should try to start writing your own sentence, if do like this daily one hour with in three months more than enough for improve your english communication.English communication will improve wn your starting to sppaeak with ur fiirds in english thn only u wil get confidence to speak so you havt keep on speaking english with your friends it may be corect vor wrong should be speak english only meanwhile pronownsatiol also will be improve.
