Dear All,
I have a question regarding ESI calculation!
Suppose gross salary of someone is 20000/-. He is not comes under ESI slab. in any month his attendance is 5 pay day. His salary of that month is 3333.33. Now should I deduct ESI from his salary.

Dear Sanjeev
Taking in to consideration to coverage of ESI is gross salary only excluding washing allowance. Employee is getting salary below 15000/- basing on the working days, need not to require to deduct the ESI contribution.

Dear Sanjeev,
No you need not to deduct ESI, while calculating his total gross salary you shuold not consider any converyance / travelling allowance, Washing allowance, any other allowance paid to defry with nature of his work.
Only during plant closure, if productivity allowance comes down then basis this you need to go ahead with ESI Deductions.

Dear All,
If any employee gross salary is 15000/- PM & above , no any esi deduction, either the paid day 1 day, 2 day, 3 day.........or full month salary. Because we are calculate paid day as per gross heads, one thing more, the esi return two times in a year April to Sept & Oct to Mar, if any employee gross salary is below 15000/- pm on april & we deducted esi contribution, in may month salary incress , now this emp. gross salary is above 15000/- PM, then this emp esi contribution will continue till sept. this is must acoording esi act.

Once employee is out of preview of ESI, whether he is present for a day or 30 days is immaterial, unless his gross salary per month is reduced and fall under Rs. 15000/-. Ravindra Watve

You need not to deduct ESI contributions as his salary is exceeding the ceiling amount of Rs. 15000/-

Dear Sanjeev,
The ESI is not deductable as the gross salary is more than Rs.15,000/- pm. A person is getting Rs.3333.33 as take home salary does not mean that his gross salary is reduced, but his gross salary remains Rs.20000/- but due to his absentism, or other deductions, the take home salary comes to Rs.3333.33.
Therefore, ESI is not deductable.

Try to set control over his actual ctc , rather in earned ctc. for ex: actual ctc is Rs.20000, earned ctc is Rs. 5000 you should have control over his actual.
like
if ( gross > 15000,0, gross*1.75%)
ie. actual gross crossing 15000, he will not be into esi with this formula

dear friends
i have a doubt about ESI contribution. I and my husband both work for the same company where we both come below 15000/- gross pay.
my question is i am dependent to my husband and he is to me and why should we both have to pay the contribution. is there any rule that one is enough to pay for ESI because EsI covers for entire family i.e dependents.
please clarify me.
