Has anyone prepared a training or development plan for staff by levels. Perhaps looking at non-executive to executive and then to managers?
I am wondering what are some thoughts on the competencies required at these different levels, and at point of transition - for example from Executive to Manager.

Dear Ravine, Tops down approach and bottoms up approach both are important. Both have their own merits. Learning is all pervasive and cannot be restricted to one level. Ok... DVD

I agree... I am also concerned about what are the competencies needed for people to move up the career ladder, and how best to prepare them.

Dear Ravine,

What you are asking for is specific to the context/culture of each organization , as such no ready made solutions exist. However, I am trying to provide you with some standard templates gathered from all over which you will have to modify to your requirements/prevalent norms/policies in your company.

PFA enclosed employee planning docus, the 8 component format can be used for senior management while 5 component for middle/junior functionnaries.

What competencies be are to considered in the employee development template as also in the performance planner is a function of the accuracy of Job analysis/JD in your organization. If your culture permits having an employee performance log is the best thing as it cuts out subjectivity in the appraisals/performance measurement systems.

There is also a training planner/log shall it so be decided after a gaps analysis in sequel to performance planning & subsequent logging of the demonstrated level.

Another attachment will follow due constraints of numbers.

:) Hope it helps

Arun
