Better do some research to understand the concepts rather than look for quick short answers. You will be stuck when you start using the definations. Rgds RR

Zero defects aims at reducing the defects in a process, and doing the process correctly the first time itself

Zero defects means reaching a level of infinity sigma - which is nearly impossible. In terms of Six Sigma, zero defects would mean maximization of profitability and improvement in quality.

The term Sigma taken from Greek alphabet,is used to designate the distribution about mean of any parameter of product,Process or procedure.
Now in common words you can say sigma is capability of anything (product/procedure or process) to show how accurately its working.
Level of Sigma and defect rate

(Quantity Level) (% Quality) (Defective parts per Million)
(3 Sigma ) (99.73) (66,807)
(4 Sigma ) (99.9937) (6210)
(5 Sigma ) (99.999943) ( 233)
(6 Sigma ) (99.9999998) (3.4)

In short when someone saying they achieved six sigma in manufacturing of bearing or delivering food to customers they assuring that chance of defect bearing or chance of getting wrong food to customer is only 4 cases in 10,00,000 deliveries.

Now u can easily understood what is zero defect,it is just ideal condition in which % of quality is 100% in short u will nt find a single defective bearing over entire plant run.

Six Sigma:- We have three bi faction in six sigma as per the amount saving of the projects(Yellow, green, black belt) to achieve the zero defect with in the org or a process.

To achieve the zero defect, we can use lot of projects of six sigma....
