HI All,

Need some suggestions on the following issue. Kindly advice...

I'm working in the Marketing domain for the past 4 years and for the past 1 1/2 years i'm in Business development domain where i'm helping the direct marketing people by generating new leads, fixing up appointments, proposal preparation, followup with clients, payment collection etc. i have been working in the same company for the past 1 1/2 years.

As per my company policy employees can take 1 day per month as casual leave and 12 days a year as PL.

Due to personal reson i've taken 2 days leave - as emergency leave. I was unable to inform to the office in advance. But on the first day of my leave i called one of my collegue and asked him to inform to the compnay. He also did so. But On the 2nd day of my leave my immediate boss sent a person to the place where i'm staying and enquired about me- whether i'm available or not.

This behaviour really hurted me and decided to quit the job. But my MD didnot know anything about this so i wanted to discuss with him and then leave. During the discussion shall i disclose this to him...

Need some advice... (My immediate boss is the VP of the company and close relative of my MD)

Thanks

Anu

ANU,
WHAT the VP did was wrong and rude.
At the same time your discussion with MD on this matter
may not help.
I don't think the MD will take any action with VP,
due to the official position as well as the relationship.
But if you feel strong about this event [ it is your value system]
seek another position , and then quit.
Because, this VP might do it again.

Hi Anu,
I suggest you talk to your immediate boss and VP about this. Explain them your problem and why you had to take leave. No company objects for leave taken on genuine reasons.
Open communication with both would help, that's if you it to work.
Remember quitting is the easiest way out.. So DON'T given up!!

Thanks Leo & Anu
Anu - My immediate boss and the VP are the same. I'm directly reporting to my VP.
Leo - Yes nothing will work out even if i discuss with my MD. but he is a very supportive person and understands the employees well. Since no body is there to take care of my position in my company leaving the company abruptly is not a good idea to me. But any way i'm planning to give 15 days notice before leaving the company in the mean while i'm going to apply for 1 week leave before giving the notive.
Is it ok .. pls advice..
Thanks

ANU, I respect your decision. Your self esteem has been hurt and you will never feel comfortable working under such climate. regards LEO LINGHAM

Anu,
What the VP did was definitelty wrong.
But this happens in many organisations even today. you could call this as 'running a police station' rather than running a slaes office. there are vp's etc who check even on persons who have been working in the company for several years. It is trust we need on people who work with us.
