I am Shreya, and I'm new to this forum. I am doing a project on "Attrition and retention of contract labor". it is a research based project, so i have designed a questionnaire,based on why C.L join the organization, how long do they intend to work for? why do they leave the organization in between?
however the scope of this study being very limited, the questionnaire i have designed is limited too, also I'm not clear as to what rating scale should be used for the analysis and interpretation.
Kindly help me to get a direction for my project so that i can carry out a proper project.

From what I gather from your post, you are conducting an exploratory survey. How large is the organisation? Please post your questionnaire so that we can see what you have done to help us to guide you.

So far i have prepared this questionnaire attached here with.
However my colleagues suggested it should either be close ended or open ended for the reasons of interpretation. Also as a part of the project report i have to mention a research methodology for this project and based on that give HYPOTHESIS and INTERPRETATION.
Also attached herewith is the project guidelines according to which i have to prepare my report, but i do not understand what all to put in the respect chapters given as per the project guideline. kindly help me on this.
I have gone through the above concepts in a subject called RESEARCH METHODOLOGY, but i am not clear as to how to apply it into this project.
Kindly guide me on this. I have just another 26 days before i leave the organization.

A little more about the organization - it deals in pharmaceutical in India. It employs contract labor in three broad categories, namely Diploma candidates, ITI candidates and XIIth pass outs from mostly west and east India and some locally and other C.L for housekeeping purose. The problem here is the Diploma people leave in between and thus the training efforts put in by the Organization go in vain. Thus the organization's need is to make these C.L work at least for 6 months.

You can make the changes in your questionnaire
Q-1 : Less Skill level and less education level
Q-2 : No Idea about duration of stay
Q-3 : No specific reason
Q-4 : No suggestion
Q-5 : No Suggestion
Q-6 : Period of stay with the same contractor and reason for prolonged stay.
Q-7 : Whether Staying with family or not in Work place.
Q-8 : If reply to Q-7 is No, then please give the mode of sending money to the family
(a) By Money Order (b) By Depositing in Bank Account
(c) Contractor Handover the specified amount in my home.
In body of report you can add few lines from Contract Labour Act, Welfare Measures which will be more relevant to your subject.
