Dear Cite HR,
One question that has been bugging me for a long time now...........There is a thin line between Confidence and arrogance.....how to identify it? I see a lot of youngsters, just entering the work life and actually spoil their chances by being arrogant and thinking that they are being confident. How to guide them?
Any answers?

Madam
Your observation is right. If a person is confident in doing something. He can do it. But there may be Practical difficulties at implementation stage. A new comer with amble knowledge but less experience in tackling the situation; naturally becomes arrogent. So the person should develop enough patience to pass through hard experiences; Learn practical lessons by himself and then set in to a position of Maturity. Then the Arrogance will get away from him; revealing the Confidence in him; Like the Sun is revealed when the Clouds Passed away.

Dear Madam,

It is on a few occasions only I like and I incline to participate or replying to some posts or discussion in the forum.

The individuals being bundle of emotional feelings -- anger, happiness and sad-- are controlled by these very emotions. No one is exception to application of these feeling one way or the other in daily lives. An excess dosage of any of these basic feelings displayed by us in any situations will empty our commonsense gradually or quickly. The excess or display of this disturbs one's normal self and it takes efforts and time to retrieve to normal mode. Similarly the arrogance is extension of our ego or our own reasoning for a cause known to the individual only. What is simple application of reasoning or logic is downright arrogance to some one. On the other side in our mind chemistry anything excess including confidence is not good for self and for society which is a group of individuals.

Confidence is the ability in applying known capabilities for positive outcome. Again this is a relative term because it is subject to situations and individuals profile or life styles. Over confidence leads so many negative effects in any walks of life. Arrogance is a reflection of our rigid stand under any situations without giving leverage to plus and minus of our analysis or judgment. Simply it boils down to adaptability to people and situations.

Successful people whether it is in personal or career life, have this adaptability to maneuver the rough situations and people. Many top leaders have failed successfully because of lack of this single most important attribute.

It applies to more youngsters because obviously they have just not seen many situations and people. Success misleads them. Success is taken for granted. It is only a milestone and in the journey of life there are many milestones, ups and downs, terrains, roadblocks, surprises. Success and failures and -- only failures-- mould us to take on life.

best wishes and have a good day.

Dear All,
It's a very good point of discussion. In my view Confidence is feeling of "I Can Do It" and Arrogance is feeling of "I Can Only Do It and No One Else".
Hope all you agree with this.

Confidence is strength...
Arrogance is weakness...
Arrogance comes out of over-confidence.... which stands as a reason for failure in building up the career as well as life...
Thanks & Regards
