Pavadia
Dear,
I have joined a company as an HR.
So far it is going smooth but Management wanted me to handle Office Boys and I accepted this responsibility.
Office Boys and other staff is 4-8 years old with the Company.
Now comes the problem where Office boys are carrying an attitude that no body can harm them as Management is with them. So, because of this they talk the way they want to other staff members be it senior or junior.
Showing unwanted attitude being at this post which is effecting staff majorly.
What should I do to improve the same ?

Dear Pavadia,
You can take into confidence your management people & tell them not to support office boys as they are showing major attitude. Also, you can take office boys meeting & talk to them about their behaviour & how it is effecting other people in staff. If the attitute still continues you can issue them the warning letters with management's consent.
Thanks,
Prachi

Please dont misunderstand their way of talking. It may be due to their ignorance.
Since they are less educated and mix with and do the official works and personal works of all the staff, irrespective of their position, such type of feelings are normal. Proper guidence and advise is sufficient to solve such situation.

Dear Pavadia,
Hate the sin not the sinner!
Your situation can easily solved by" give respect & get respect". There is need to build their confidence in you, so that they start listening & following your direction. Make a single point control for giving them work & equally distribute the job.
Treat them as your team not as office boys, nevertheless have patience.
take in easy & All iz well

Hi Pavadia,
See this could be two way process. Thay may be showing attitude if others are doing so. Find out the real cause. It could not be union problem hence could be solved through counselling, training. You talk to them with respect and they will reciprocrate. Observe for disrespect and correct it then and there.
Other alternative could be policy pertaining the roles and responsibility of office boys. You can also includes points on misconduct and displinary actions if errant behaviour is observed.

Dear Pavadia,
As per my best experience please see wheather this "Boys" are on company roll ( permanent ) or on voucher payments or on contractor's roll.
If after working 4-5 years in the same office they want permanency in their jobs.
Please see wheather this "Boys" are passing any "Bakwas Baate" ( especially of against the company ) to the higher management.
All these things boosts thier cofidence to behave as an arrogant.
Try to solve the issue diplomatically.
All the best...............!!!

Dear Pavadia,

Change in anybody's attitude is not something that one can bring about in a short-duration...specifically when an attitude is deep-rooted ! Its your company's management who assigned you the responsibility to "handle" the office boys, thus, before initiating any action that may have far-flung consequences... take the management into confidence in relation to what they expect from you and what kind of action/ level of authority they'll allow you to exercise in this regard like warning / suspencion/ termination. On the other hand, also try to understand what makes these office boys behave in a manner they do...may be its the management who had given them such liberty & is now worried as things are getting worse...or may be these people have some grievances in relation to the work-hrs or salary ...or may be their behaviour is a sheer outcome of frustration that comes out of stagnation & can be dealt with through motivational training etc or may be they think they can get away with anything as they are amongst the oldest employees of the company ! Once you are clear about the reasons, you would be in a better condition to initiate actions to check such an attitude.

Hi. I would say that in any field we face such problem. Iam working since last 15 years in a Pvt. Ltd. Company. So why dn't you tackle them as a friend. We should treat them like our collegues as their are also the part of the management team. Be like a friend to them. All the problem will be solved
