FMS pioneered the concept of management training in India in 1954. The first institute to provide management education for professional managers, it has since been in the forefront of this specialized field. The institute has collaborative and exchange programs with various institutions abroad such as: INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France; Manchester Business School, England; Rotterdam School of Management, Netherlands; Katholieke Universities, Leuven, Belgium; University Biefield, Germany; University of California, Berkeley, USA.
The two cornerstones of any institute are its faculty and its students. FMS can boast of a core faculty group of 34 members. Each faculty member is a Ph.D. and is continually in demand as advisors and consultants to companies, institutions and governments. The students are selected after a rigorous process which comprises – a written test which acts as a screening process, followed by an extempore, group discussion and interview of the short listed candidates. The selection ratio is the highest in India at 1:740!!
