HR Generalist.... in simple terms jack of all trade but master of none.... it means generalist can be asked to perform anyhting in HR Domain..its good be in generalist in initial stay of career as it give exposure to all domain rather expertise in one field.
So if you get call for HR generalist role you should show you look for all aspect in HR rather one domain...for eg recuitments, employe engagement, T&D, etc,....

Dear Rajeshwari,
Congrats first of all..Since you have one year experience, I think you might be well versed with the T&D stuff. See what I would suggest is that if you take up the Generalist profile, you will be aquainted with all the domains of HR. This will help you realise that where exactly your interest lies and may help you to understand where does your potential lie. Further, you can continue into being an expert in a specific arena.
I would suggest that take up the Generalist profile. Even at later stages, you can always enter into any area. But if you plan to stick to one specific arena, then you will have to be with it. Incase you are far more interested in T&D then continue with it. Do let us know what you decide upon.

Dear Rajeshwari,
Our friends told u exactly right because in T&D only U can learn one area, but if u enter in HR Generalist u can learn areas,All Act’s and Forms their importance, u have to pay more concentration labour Act 1970 and Factories Act 1948 every thing will be covered. slowly you can become Personnel Manager it's my Opinion .
