Dear Friend,
I find following formula on net to find ESI. But I don't understand How to use it?
I am a student of MBA(HR) 3-year evening programme and doing project on "Employee Satisfaction" for that I want to use this. Suggest If u have any other formula. I am using 5 scale format for questionnaire as per step 1.

1. How to calculate ESI?
a.There is a five-point scale in the questionnaire or survey from employee responses.

·Strongly Agree

·Agree

·Undecided

· Disagree

· Strongly Disagree.

b. You should remark number attached, include strongly agree (5) to strongly disagree (1).
c. The TOTAL SCORE RECEIVED is calculated = (total number of responses of 5 * 5)+(total number of responses of 4 * 4)+(total number of responses of 3 * 3)+(total number of responses of 2 * 2)+(total number of responses of 1 * 1)
Then, total number of questions with answers against each response is calculated (5, 4, 3, 2, and 1).
d. The total number of questions answered is calculated.
e. Calculate the MAXIMUM TOTAL SCORE which is the TOTAL (pt. d) * 5.
ESI = (TOTAL SCORE RECEIVED / MAXIMUM TOTAL SCORE) * 100
If anybody understand then explain it with example.

Is there any other formula for ESI calculation.

With Regards,
Mahesh

I suppose you do mean Employee State Insurance Scheme.
1. All employees on a gross salary of Rs.10000/- or less are covered under the ESI Scheme.
2. The Employer's share of contribution is 4.75% of Gross salary and Employee's share is 1.75% of the Gross Salary.
This is the formula for ESI deduction.

Dear veekayk99, You have deviated from the subject. Here ESI is not Employee State Insurance. Querry is about Employee Satisfation Index/Indicator. Do’t jump the gun. Thanks & Regards
