We have started our own industry and I am heading the HR department. I would require anyone's guidance in knowing about what would be the wage to an employee working on daily wage basis if he is doing Over Time.

Dear
Your query is not clear but is seems that you want to know the O T payment rate for daily wager employees working with you. We do not know which of the Acts are applicable to your unit in relation to OT payment. OT payment provisions are there in the State Shops Act, Minimum Wages Act, Factories Act, 1948 etc. & therefore first examine which of the Act (s) are applicable to your Industry & then go through the relevant provision relating to your query.

For daily rated employees, wages are paid for eight hour work on daily basis. To calculate overtime payment/wages, at first normal wages per hour is to be calculated by dividing the daily wages by 8(eight). Then the overtime wages per hour will be the double the normal wages per hour.
Hopes, you are clear now.

Dear Nandha Kumar,
When a thread is started the only reason behind is the comment and feedback on that particular topic. If you need a job or looking for a job, it would really be better if you could start a new thread in this community. This would bring you a better prospect..

Santosh is right on this. However, I would rather discourage daily wage earners working overtime as they will tend to go slow during normal working hours to earn some extra money through overtime. The best way to do this is to get the work done through contract work.

Overtime pay of daily wage employee?
Dear annudhar,
Please note that as per factory Act, 1948, employee working on Permanent / Daily / Temporary / Casual nature of work, has to work 9 hrs a day OR 48 hrs a week. over and above that you have to pay overtime at the double rate as per M.W.A.
