If the task demans work on saturdays - then I guess you need to work on a saturday too.
For instance - in my role as an HR and major responsibilities in recruitments, I even work on Sundays when required, because the candidates will not be abel to take a leave during week days usually (since i am in the Garment industry, people work on tight shipment schedules, and being absent a day can mean a lot of difference for them). Moreover I will not have the other office people's interfeance .. so I work on a SUnday when required,.. and yes, my boss understands if I need to compensate this and grants me leave without questioning me at all.
Same way - in some jobs it would be necessary to work on a saturday too. Moreover - you are being paid for it. So if you dont prefer a pay on that day you might as well take a day off and inform your boss about it. He might as well think of re working on it, or rehiring for the role ...LOL!
