Spelling Mistakes Blunders
Dear Friends,

Please note some of the members post messages with lot of spelling mistakes. For example someone have typed "wheather" instead of whether (it seems). Note not all of us are that much talented in English, for this better you people type the content in the Microsoft word, correct the mistakes and then post.

This is my kind request.

With Thanks & Regards

G. Anand

Well this thread has been discussed many times in citehr, and not only spelling mistakes but also inappropriate / wrong use of grammar.

We cant do anything to improve those people, being in HR they themselves should make it a point to improve their english vocabulary.

Smile, spellings are not more impotant then the meaning; meanings are not more imporant than the understading and understading is nothing if we do not act on our principles.

Spelling Mistakes
Dear S Bosamia,

I beg to differ with you strongly.

A person lives for oneself and not for someone else. Those who make posts with poor grammar and spellings, it shows that they do not maintain their own standards. Those who maintain the standards acquire good growth also. Higher the standards higher the growth.

You have typed a message with the garbled text. Yes we are able to read it. We understand its meaning also. However, this exercise is used for teaching perceptions and it need not be brought over here. Probably in what spirit the Mr G Anand originate this post that you have missed it.

You say that as long as meaning is understood, everything is fine. Sorry, dear friend. This very attitude of "somehow" or "anyhow" brining the results did not grow India as a whole.

You also have used your statement "Do NOT make tragedies of trifles, don't shoot butterflies with rifles, Laugh it off !" out of context.

It is one thing to ignore the trifles of some immature members of this forum and another to ignore the trifles of 100 others.

I stand by what Mr Anand has said, Its more than two years, had raised similar issue.

Ok...

I agree with you completely. In HR we need to communicate clearly and in a professional manner. Misspelled, incorrect words and grammar will not only present miscommunication but also cause confusion.
I am amazed at the 'gansta' language used by some of the communicators and can only imagine the bewilderment of those they communicate with.
How difficult is it to use spell check?

I fully agree with the views expressed by you Mr. Divekar.
We have a inbuilt habit of compromising the quality in every thing.
The Indian "Chalta Hai" attitude.

Its high time we come out of this Chalta Hai kind of work culture

I agree with Ravishank, Anand and Dinesh. However, it is sometimes quite convenient to type a message without first typing in Word and then cut and paste it. I think we need to make a distinction between a 'typo' and mispellings and the usage of 'SMS texting' language used by some members.

Have a nice day

Common people!

I agree we need to take care of spelling mistakes. No Doubt. Steps like putting it in word is a good suggestion.

But hey! English is not first language to many and such posts are plain discouraging to these people.

I don't agree with the 'chalta hai atittude' comment. Some of the people who come here are freshers or from small towns where English speaking is not mandatory.

English is genuinely a problem for some people. We need to respect that. And work with it.

Cheers

Dear All,

In my view, we all here are to share the information, increase our knowledge and help. Incase if we don't understand the meaning, we can ask the person, what he/she meant but if the message is conveyed and meaning is understood then no importance to spelling mistake should be given. Mind thinks much faster than our typing speed and we need to type that and convey to all.

By pointing out spelling mistakes, we are deviating from our main aim. At the end of the day, results is what matters not proper english. We are in a world of professionals where every minute is precious. Keep your eye on target.

I agree with S. Bosamia.

Well, if anyone is offended, then my heartfelt apologies but understand the emotions dont go for presentations.

Regards,
Rashmi
