| | | | background verification Hi,
Could somebody tell me whether i can remove 1 year of experience which i had in my first organisation from my resume while applying to a new organisation.
i'm an Software engineer and following is my case.
1st organisation --1 year exp--2004-2005
2nd organisation --4 year exp--2005-2009
my 2nd organisation had conducted background verification on my first organisation, things were positive.
Now my first organisation have almost shut shop and moved to some place though they do still exist, but might create problems with any further background verification coming to them for their ex-employees.
I'm taking the decision to remove my 1 year of experience at my first firm, so keeping this in mind... will this become a problem with the background verification process in any organisation where i might join in the future?
Pls advise what should i do in such a case or will it be a case that i will not be able to join any other good firm.
thanks

| | | | Dear Sanji,
The employee who verification is done by the FADV , their record remains in the data base. All the MNC and international BPO's have FADV as their vendors.Incase your company is taking the assistance of FADV then it shouldnot be a problem.
I would also suggest you to have a talk with your HR regarding this , am sure they would give you some alternatives according to their company policy and regulations.

Since this is the third company you are planning to change there is nil possibility of the company to do background check on your first company experience. Only your current company will be taken into consideration for background verification and if they insist that they want the number of your first company you just tell the people who worked with you has left the organization and no one knows where the current company is functioning now.

| | | | Avik/Nisha,
Thank you so much for your replies.
I don't think that my current firm uses any FADV or any other central repository for that matter. In fact i had attended an interview with a top US MNC in india and they've offered me a position. However i had applied to them by removing my first 1 year experience and had told them that i was job hunting back then.
Now i'm in a fix, on whether i should join them or not. I'm just wondering if they'd check with my current firm on the experience i'd shown here.
Otherwise whatever i've stated in my resume is perfectly legal and have legitimate documents supporting the same.

I would suggest you to tell the truth to your employer and the reason for not showing the first employment earlier. They will understand your condition bcoz if in b/w the verification they'll find out that you hvn't shown your prior employment experience it could be a problem. So don't worry and tell the truth bcoz you hv all the answers regarding the same.

Since you have already got a job in one of a good organization stick on to it, because after taking time for interviewing and selecting you now if you tell them that you were working for one yr else where things might turn unfavorable to you because the employer has all rights to get frustrated on you that you have wasted his time by producing false information, so what you can do right now is talk to your current manager and seek out his help in this issue to help you out in the back ground verification.
