Whether really a probation period is required in an Organisation?
In HR policies, one of the important area covered is Probation Period of employee.

Please give your views whether Probation period is really required in an organisation. Now a days many companies has started the policy of recruiting people as confirmed from day one. There are some benefits behind the same, like

1.You judge a person at the time of recruitment

2.No need to repeat the activity at the end of 3 months again of reviewing.

3.How seriously it is really done in the company?

4.In case person is not up to the mark then as it is company will send him for training and in case of very poor performance might ask him to leave the job. In this view the same can be done from day one by not following confirmation process.

5. To reduce one activity of paper work, as many times it becomes only one activity.

6. Instead of that we can do time to time checking of the performance of the employee from first month.

Please give your views on the same.

You cant judge a person fully at the time of the 1 hr interview.

Probation periods in organisations are 3 months or 5 months or whatever.

THe main idea of probation period

IS THE CANDIDATE IMBIBED INTO THE COMPANY CULTURE, ITS POLICIES, AND WORKING CONDITIONS

SAME WITH CANDIDATE ALSO, IS HE LIKING THE COMPANY,

So because of any circumstances if there is not a match between the company and employee, they can choose to part without any commitments, no notice period, nothing.

In probation period ideally there is no policy regarding resignation, an employee can resign without any notice period and so the company can also remove without any notice period.

This probation period is just the period you get to know each other, like before marriage husband wife, spend some time, and see whether they fit or not.
