All you need to do is start on your own, Companies are facing lot of problems in getting resources on board, take information from 15 companies of different sizes and collect the date how may offered and how many came on board, do the research why the people are taking offers and not coming on baord ..give a solution for this, that's it your project is done.

Carry the same research based project at ford, by analysing carefully the recruitment practices at ford and the changes that has happened in ford, like in 2006 how many offers were sent and how many joined and in 2009 what were the figures and further try to analyze the problems and find out a solution so that the interview process at ford can be more improved so as to further minimize such incidence of taking offers and not joining. Discuss this with your FORD HR person and also contact me if you need any help.

You can research on how the recruitment process has evolved in last 5 years in Ford and similar auto companies.....how new technological interventions has affected recruitment process...... how recruitment process is different for auto sector than IT/ITEs. Analyze reasons....collect data and information and suggest solutions.....

Recruitment and Selection - Auto majors
You may highlight the process of campus recruitment which most of auto majors follow now. The recruitment and selection process is mainly dependant on the campus recruitment.

The auto majors tie up with various colleges and select the (final year) candidates well before they write their final semester examination.

Campus recruitments are conducted and candidates are selected based on merit. They are given job as Management Trainee and for a period of 1 or 2 years, depending upon the performance they are absorbed into regular rolls of the company.

I hope this would a small guiding factor for you to go ahead.

regards

You can do a number of projects in Recruitment and selection area. Few examples.
Study on competency based Recruitment and Selection.
Study on attrition (if its a problem faced by your company)
Evaluation on the quality of recruitment done earlier and methods to suggest improvement.
Study on the lead time taken to fill a vacancy and methods to reduce the lead time.
yield ratio analysis in recruitment and selection.
Evaluation on the Recruitment and selection process and methods to improve.

Like these you can explore into many other related topics.
regards,
shijit.

Research Topics
Hi Subit,

You can carry out a research-based project work in Recruitment and Selection by conducting research on the proportion & effectiveness of various recruitment channels and employer tests used at different managerial levels ; manpower analysis and determination of man-power gaps; recruitment costs incurred under various heads & suggestion of ways to cut down on excessive expenditure; assessment of KSAs for preparation of 'Skills Inventory' for present & future organizational use; conduct internal and external surveys to devise and suggest ways to motivate suitable candidates to apply for job-openings at Ford etc.
Herewith, I am attaching a document on "Recruitment & Selection" process that u may find useful in understanding the concept for project purpose.

Hi Subit,

First and foremost getting a project in recruitment and selection should not be seen as a problem !!!

You can do a project of analysing the current recruitment practice at the FORD and do a research to understand the recruitment patterns adopted by few other the companies in the same industry. Your scope of study could also include things such as sources of recruitment, Turn arround time for a positio, different tools used in the recruitment process and draw a comparison with that of other companies. Choose only 4-5 companies as more the sample size the analysis becomes difficult to comprehend.

This will be beneficial to both Ford who is offering you a project as they will get an greater insight and this also serves your college requirement of a research based project.

O Hi

I feel you should include some point mentioned below, apart from the traditional suggestions given in R&S-

A. Implementation of Case Studies- A effective tool to predict the caliber of Candidate
This has been implemented in my organization

B. Post Result analysis of Candidate. A Candidate may give good performance during his interview procedure but may differ in actual outcomes in the duties or projects offered.

C. Putting him in environment of unexpected results say in any assignments or proj, also to check his presence of mind and strategy Etc.

I will appreciate feedback on comments made by me.
