SALARY STRUCTURE - MEDIAN or AVERAGE ??
Dear HR Professionals out there,

It will be nice to get to know you. I'm Ivy. I am developing a salary structure for my company in Singapore but face some difficulties/confusion as follows:

1) I'm comparing the annual fixed Market salary data (at say 50 percentile) with our Company annual fixed salary data for 8 positions classified under the same Job grade, should I use the median salary or average of the salaries of the 8 positions ?

Take example: Comapny annual salary data of the 8 positions are: $20000, 30000, 35000, 40000, 55000, 60000, 80000 & 85000.
Average salary = ($405000)/8 = $50,625 ; or
Median salary = estimated at $55000.

I hope some1 out there could guide me and clear my confusion.

Thank you & God bless.

Ivy Chan
