if my salary is 10,000 then as per BONUS ACT bonus is miminum of 20% of basic pay or 3500 p.m. so bonus is 2000 p.m. for one year it turns out to be 10,000/- Rs.but BONUS ACT says maximum bonus to be 8400/- RS.
As per law, the employer can restrict the bonus to Rs. 8400 per annum.
However, it is a policy decision and the management can decide to be employee friendly and pay 20% salary as bonus irrespective of the maximum amount prescribed in law as they are paying more than required and complying with the law.
