If you feel that leave is sought for genuine reasons then you may sanction leave . Leave does not mean that with pay only. Even if you sanction leave without pay, it will be of great help for him because, once LOP is sanctioned, he can resume duty once he recovers from sickness.

Dear Raj,

If you really feel that the employee is really one of the good assets of the company you can retain him on a condition that his leave will be taken as loss of pay. But in case you feel his job can be replaced with someone else and it requires immediate fulfillment you can settle his notice pay and ask him to leave the organization.

There are many ways sanctioning of leave, out of that, First we have to find out the level of sickness, whether injury or sickness is permanent or temp. Every injury or sickness will be having time period based on this decision can be taken from the management.

first step is sick leave with pay
2nd step is sick leave with out pay
in some special cases if the employee is worth to the company in other words pillar or pilot batch employees served more than 25 years, half salary will be paid for some period as reconsecration for his or her sincerity.

Dear Raj,

You can personally talk to him over the phone and tell to him that the situation requires immediate replacement or else the company will be facing loss and maybe if he is good you can assure him that he will be taken in to consideration once he is perfectly normal and if there is any vacancy at that time and ask him to resign from the job for betterment of both employee and employer
