Recruitment of Production Operator
Hi my name is Shasi from Malaysia. I would like to share a senario of a recruitment activitiy and would appreciate that you provide insights and solutions.

The organization specialises in hardware electronic solutions products such as wafer. Majority of the workforce comprises of production operators. Presently the turnover of production operators are quite at an alarming stage. The job requires them to work on 12 hours shift work. The organization employs only females as production operator. Average age been employed between 21 to 28 years old which contribute to 60% of the total production operators workforce. Besides that newly recruit staff will undergo a month orientation program at site. Once they have completed, they will be assigned to 12 hours shift operations.

Additionally the recruitment pattern also revealed that every 10 new worker been recruited only 4 remains after 6 months of employment.

My questions:

1. How can we retain them or reduce the turnover

2. Besides traditional method of recruiting people such as paper based advertisment and electronic are there any particular method to attract people (production operators) to work at the organization

3. What type of long term plan and short term plan can been deploy in recruiting production operators.
