Without People Development, Organisational Performance Will Not Improve?
Good Morning,

I am a year 2 student studying a Business and HR Degree and I need your advice.

We have been asked to answer the following question:-

"Discuss the opinion that without people development organisational performance will not improve at the same pace as environmental or situational demands."

Can anyone give me any help on this and maybe point me in the right direction? Also oversees involvement would be great too!

Thank you for your time and your help!

Nathan

Dear Nathan,

You may want to study Strategic HRM

The essence of which is that Organizational Performance is dependent on certain factors, one of which is People development. The key thing here is to connect the abilities, behaviors, knowledge areas that need to be developed with the overall organizational strategies(mission, vision. goals that are translated into KPIs & competencies)

Only when this linkage is established, then only will people development lead to org. development & ROI else it would be all worthless!!!

Do contact me if you want more insight into this!

Hello Kennith!

Thanks for your help, that was really useful. I have been doing some further reading and have come up with using the following within my report:-

*Environmental Change
*Events in a Competitive Arena
*People Change
*Education and Experience
*And the Psycological Contract

Does anyone think that by mentioning all of these this will aid my report and have I left anything out maybe?

Best Wishes,

Nathan

Yes

The biggest factor that acts as a catalyst for Organizational Performance is Organizational Culture.

Hence People Development should always include aligning employees towards a favorable and desired culture which is driven by leadership!

the other aspect is Internal Communication: by way of which people will realize the importance of self-development and hence buy-in (or become stakeholders) in the organization's increase in performance!

hi,

Here we are talking about focusing on total employees involvement. Organizations spend huge money on training and development but the main aim of the discussion id to bring employee in close contact with the organization. Performance of an organization will never be static and the basic unit of performance is worker / employee of the organization.

Dear Nathan,

if organisation will not develop existing people by providing training, they will not be able to cope up with new difficulties coming in their jobs. by this ultimately org will not grow.

regards,
Nishu
