I think your query is whether gross salary paid to an employee has PF and ESI components in it. For example if Rs. 10000 is the gross salary and Rs. 800 is PF deduction and Rs.400 is the ESI contribution, the employee's take home pay is Rs. 8800. Gross salary is therefore inclusive of these deductions. If you want more clarifications or illustrations, refer tyour query back to me. Ganesan

The component for the deduction of PF will be Basic salary+Dearness Allowances/Variable Dearness Allowances+Food Concession (if any)+ special Allowances(which is not defined) and the esic deduction will be done on gross salary (inclusive of all allowances) excluding the reimbursement but it include overtime and can de deducted on salary of Rs. 10,000/- pm.

Hai Kranthi Kumar.B,

ESI and PF are include in Gross Salary.ESI and PF are deduction from gross salary.Ex we get Rs-5000/- that is gross salary, the company deducted ESI 12% from the gross Salary that mean Rs-600/- and the PF deduction 1.75% from your Gross salary that means Rs-87.5/- the remaining amount called Net pay.

Thanks and Regards

Dear All,

I would like to add in this as folow:

Basic +DA+HRA+CCA = Gross Salary

Less Deductions: PF +PT = Net Salary

And Gross Salary + Employers Contributory PF + LTC+ Medical + Etc= CTC

This is as per my knowledge,and i would request to a senior member to kindly inform why is CPF not included in Gross Salary since it is a benefit to the employee.

hi kranti,Gross salary amount consists of your gross earnings only. The amount of salary you draw is the netpay which you get by deducting these ESI and PF from your gross salary which they donot include in your gross salary. But for calculating the CTC we add the ESI and PF also to gross earnings.Gross Earnings - Statuatory Deductions (ESI + PF) = Net PayGross Earnings + Statuatory Deductions (ESI + PF) = CTC

Deductions Side :
ESI= 1.75% of Basic(employee) 4.75%(employer) contribution
PF = 12.0% of Gross salary
