Gross Salary is the sum of earings like Basic, Fixed DA, Variable DA, HRA, Conveyance, Education Allowance etc., out of which all deductions like Statutory PF, Voluntary PF if any of employee (12% of Basic+FDA+VDA) and ESI of employee etc appear. Therefore, gross includes definitely PF & ESI though as PF & ESI it does not appear among the earnings.

Dear Friend,

For ESI deductions it is the Gross Salary that is taken into account.

For PF it the Basic Wage + DA.
