Hi Sharon,
I fully agree with Sayali that HRD and its principles cannot be explained in a few lines, and to design HRD System one needs in depth knowledge. i would suggest you to take an H.R. full time course.

Dear Friend,
HRD is an abbreviated form of "Human Resource Development"
The concept implies Development of Human Resources to meet certain Organization's Objectives.
In a nutshell one can say the HRD is a defined roadmap to enable an organization to translate the same into an Action Plan to achieve pre-determined and pre defined Organizational Objectives.
The underlying theme of HRD is to train & develop the Human Resource in a manner that they become equipped to perform at an improved level to meet these defined Organizational Objectives.
Defining the Organizational Objectives is only the start of the journey and meeting the Objectives is the Goal. What happens in between are various processes and strategies to facilitate and power the journey.
Yes the term HRD encompasses a vast canvass....each organization, dpending upon the objectives it plans to achieve...will paint a picuture
in accordance with its own specific game plan.
Cheers!!!!
