Its very nice to have a cite like these.Currently I am into final year of my M.B.A. I am doing some projects on Performance Management and Competency Maping.
My queries are.
1).What is Performance Management? How to Implement Performance Management System.
2) What is competency Maping" then how to map the competency .
Plz solve my quesries.

When u talk of Performance Mgt., it covers - KRA,Goal setting,Performance Appraisal,Performance Review and Feedback,Listening, Coaching and Counselling.
Coming to Copmetency Mapping , I will explain u after some time,as I am going for a meeting now.

I mentioned about Performance Mgt.
Coming to competency mapping, it is a part of Talent Mgt.
Competency models are prepared for different career stages. Executives are assessed as per the competency module of their specific career stage.Competency module comprised of functional and behavioral dimensions. On assessing an executive on required competency model, there could be gaps, means the executive might not be meeting the required dimensions of the model.For example- a dept.head should possess Self confidence of level -4 but, the way he is performing, he is having a lower level of Self confidence that is level - 3. There is one level gap between what is expected of the career stage and what the person is possessing. This gap identification is Competency Mapping.
This gap has to be identified for different people of different career stages. Then, they are trained to reach the expected level.

What you have explained about Competancy Mapping is it that same to Skill gap system. ?
Firstly, i doubt wheather the term is Skill gap system or Skill mapping coz 2month b4 i did one project on Executive Development where the HR Officer of the company told me that they are using Skill Gap system for the Executive Development at top level management. After that i also put this topic on Citehr for discussion but not got reply.
Therefore, today when i read ur write up i guess there is Skill gap system available.
Please help.
