Why top companies don't hire distance mode MBA students?
Hi Friends / Senior

why top companies do' nt hire or give chance to distance mode student. Though they are equally knowledgeable to regular or full time MBA student.\

Whenever top companies open a vacancy for executive trainee they required desired qualification full time mba or pg.

Why did't they give chance to Distance mOde MBA Student.

why ignore these student even though they also elegible for the position.

please reply

hello friend
its because they are very cautious about the candidate who is coming from ( good and reputed institute). they think that only regular MBA students are eligible to mould by them..so many are there... simply its just their perception yar. thats all

it is correct, that companies mindset is like this only however if the candidate is really at par to show his/her talent during interview (if he/she is lucky enough to be considered for).. he can bag the position..

Hi Nisha,
Thanks a lot for bringing up this topic. I know its just sad that the so called big & good companies prefer hiring full time MBAs. Though its a known fact that tehre are many non Full time MBAs or plain graduates who are much better than these freshly minted b school graduates who are much capable. Its also known fact that barring a few FTMBAs, the rest cant even execute simple tasks. BUt its the fault of the HR industry in India which has inculcated this habit of hiring FTMBAs.
Here in India a person graduates from college doing his UG studies, crams & solves CET/CAT/NMAT/XAT test papers or admits himself in the run of the mill coaching classes & gets himself admitted to a B School with mama or papa's money. The 2 yrs in the B School are spent in a jiffy fooling around & further cramming then he/she comes out with a piece of paper which says MBA/PGDBA,etc.
Mind you, nowadays ull find more B Schools than primary schools because for the simple reason that its a business not an education. And because of the sheer size of this B School industry, they have the wherewithal to influence companies in believing that they can supply the talent that companies are looking for. Mind you im not referring to the good b school who are a reputed lot, but to the overall marklet of business education in india. No one has stopped to think that what will happen to the deserving graduates who have good work experience & have actually worked hard to deserve a good opening or a promotion but just probably didnt have the time or the money to pursue a FTMBA.
P.S.: I am an MBA by the way...

Rgds...

Brand value gets priority. Why big companies are making beeline before IIMs? We should not talk about the exception. Of course, it is true that full time students acquire good academic knowledge than their counter parts of part time. It is not only limited to MBA but also apply to other courses like B.E., etc. Some top companies don't consider the B.E. part time candidates though some candidates are well deserved.

Dear NDNISHA,

Its just your perception.Even full time MBA students do not have any knowledge of business as well as mangement, but the distance learning candidates have practical knowledge and theoritical as well.

Please do not think this, work on your competencies and knowledge,So the world you are the best, and if they are not hiring you, they are doing the biggest mistake and they are taking the wrong management decision.

All the Best.

Hello,

Its not the mind set and anything related to it. I guess people with MBA in disc education mode from Good universities are given good opportunities.

However I completely disagree with a distance mode of learning becasue - anyone in that can get a degree, but campus experience gives you a different experience. You get to interact with people, work together on case studies or even get to interact with Big people in the industry through seminars.

Still - experienced people with an MBA in dist education mode (with a good university) have a good chance of being recruited.

Full time MBA also will be like fresher, and is of use only when he or she has experience.

But considering a fresher with fulltime education in MBA and a fresher with Dist education mode form of learning, I believe the latter has less chances of a good job. The learning is different. I hope you agree.

I know a girl (a fresher)
She has completed her B.Com and M.Com /through fulltime course this year. ANd she also applied for MBA and MIB (thru dist education mode) - and now she has 4 degrees (1 UG) and 3 PG. She has mentioned her kep skills on resume as JAVA, C++, ..etc.

I pity her. She should have stayed focused on one area, and probably completed her distance education course after gathering some practical experience.

Its all knowledge by experience matters
It is pertinent to quote that the MBA through distance mode or regular one, one can get opportunity if they are good in the particular specialization.

It is not an acceptable fact, that the distance education program does not mould good students. Lots of distance education program students have got placed in good corporates, as i have seen myself.

Even regular MBA graduates are not getting the required placements as they wish to be in good Corporate groups.

So, its to be mentioned that distance learning or regular course, it does not matter, its by which one gains experience and knowledge practically.
