Hi All.
I have recently joined a manufacturing industry as Sr.manager HR after being a part of the IT industry for over 9 years .
Have the responsibilty of setting up the entire department.total employee strength of around 1000.would like to recieve info on all the aspects of setting up the department in this industry.factory act applies.
please share info.

Welcome to the manufactuing Industry. I belong to the same. Although I am only an year old, I will probably be able give you some clues like, you need to comply with :
ESIC - Payment & half yearly returns (in addition to PF)
Payment of Bonus Act
Minimum wages Act
Fire Services Act (i wonder if it is active in North)
Labour department - licence renewals etc
Trade licence - renewal
Labour welfare fund (if any)
Returns to inspector of factories
Consent orders from Pollution control board
Filing quarterly returns to Employment Exchange
I dont see any thing more than this. In case I get to remember, will surely post again.

It further has links to almost all the government department sites which are connected to the labour issues of a factory.. I personally have observed that this sites are well maintained and give quite recent information...

Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Act,
Payment of Wages Act,
Payment of Gratuity Act,
Payment of Bonus Act,
Labour Welfare fund act,
Conferment to permanent status Act,
Maternity Act,
Workmen compensation Act,

You have to close relationship with following govt. offices:
Inspector of Factory,
Fire Service,
