Company in which i'm employed is a Cental Govt. Co. located in Uttar Pradesh. Contract technicians are engaged through contractor in the the factory for carrying out maintenance activities.
Latest Minimum wages in UP is Rs. 164 (min.basic)+37.54(VDA)=201.66/-for all 59 types of industries.
My question is; in compliance of MINIMUM WAGES ACT what is minimum wage that is to be paid to contrac employees i.e. 164/- or 201/-

Yes you have to pay the 200 plus as per the minimum wages prescribed under the gazatte every yaer based on the revision. There is no other alternatives in this regard. R.Palaniswamy

The total of all components, taken into consideration, for the formulation of Minimum Awages for a particular category of workers, will have to be paid to the workers. In the given case the Minimum Wages should be Rs. 201.66 per worker, per day (of eight working hours). The contractor, will have to be paid accordingly.

Just clarifying here that you have to pay Basic+Da in U.P. but not to all Rs.201.66, it should be according to the category of the employees i.e. Unskilled, Semiskilled and Skilled.The minimum wages to these categories are Rs.129.70 per day for Unskilled, Rs.147.85 per day for Semiskilled and Rs.164.10 per day for Skilled employees w.e.f. 01-04-2009 to 30-09-2009. The amount of Basic and DA would be add and divided by 26. Then we get the per day salary/wages. The wages/salary would be paid to employees as per their designation. Such as peon/helper is unskilled labour. So their salary/wages is (2600+773) =3373/26= Rs. 129.73. You can also get the GO for the same from Labour Office, Sarvodaya Nagar, Kanpur.
