Good one ...
and my personal experience says I never hire people who don't write a proper cover letter.
Some will write dear hr
Some will say Hi Hr
some will say Hi,
PFA my cv.
Some will write horrible english with spelling mistakes or sms english, which does not push me further to open the attachment.
Once I told a candidate 3 times, till you correct your cover letter I will not open your cv, marked yellow all the mistakes,by 3rd reply also he was not able to correct it. So just ignored him.
Thanks

Covering Letter and the CV are the two of the most important communication tools with a Job Seeker.

well most of the articles teach you about the dos and the don'st but seldom they give any perfect example cv, so at the end you are always confused, whether your covering letter is ok , or you cv is missing some punch.
anyone with a perfect example covering letter on varied jobs and occasions is welcome

Hi,
It is really a good one and I suggest all the job seekers to run through their CV before they forward to the market and not to go with the standard way of addressing.
CV is the first step to showcase on his/her capabilities ensure that you cover all your skills and experience at the same time with crisp and clear.
Thanks

Good looking resume represents about the person. How he/she takes care of things. But many times we don't see people writing a cover letter. I don't think Cover letter is must, because many times candidate's don't have much time to prepare the cover letter. They apply while they are free in office. Even recruiter don't have enough time to go through lengthy Cover letter. But a good mail with good resume is always impressive. Even a good resume with out mail can do. But Resume should always be well prepared in some standard format.

There are several "big names" which prepare CV 'for a fee" that contain several mistakes.
I will not be surprised if a large percentage of the CV ,in the report that "Surabhi Mathur-Gandhi analysed ,were from these "professional CV writers"!

hi,
according to me, writing skill is important but not important in the modern era of tech. hence;
pl. mark them need based, make a clear marking like exam qu. paper of 100 nos. ie.
qualification + eligibility - 20 nos.
Technical know how - 25 nos.
Exp.- 25 nos.
as on and on.......it'll show transparncy in your record,
never forget under RTI act (Yes for PVT. cos also) you may have to submit legal and proper reason for elminating CV or Candidate.
this is for 2 cents.
