Dear all,
I need some clarification in PF. Iam an employer and i have appointed a person aged 65 in my company. Is it mandatory to deduct PF for him also. Being the employee is requesting me to not deduct PF. Please clarify
Note: PF is applicable for my company for last three year

Hello, If you are paying a Basic salary of more than Rs.6500/-, then there is no question of age coming . Regards, Deepa.

There is no age limit in PF . If his basic salary less upto 6500 or 60% of Gross salary UPTO 6500 so that you are eligible for deducting PF of that person. Rgds Ishu verma

If you have mentioned the retirement age in appointment letter, if not after the age of 58 years of age it is not mandatory to deduct PF.

Suggestion: He can be appointed as a consultant

Dear venkat sir,
The pf wage ceiling is 6500 or less wages (i.e Basic and DA), if that employee crossed his age 58 years, then his salary is less than 6500, the employer should contribute the employee and employer contributions to the PF authority. but, the total contribution Employee 12% and Employer 12% (total 24%) directly goes to PF account only. once the employee, who crossed the age 58 years, he/she not eligible to the employee pension scheme (16-11-1995) as per EPF (MP) Act-1952.
I hope it is helpful to you sir. I just completed my Master of Human Resource Management. what i wrote in above as per my basic knowledge only.

Excluded Employee as defined under pare 2(f) of the Employees' Provident Fund Scheme means an employee who having been a member of the fund has withdrawn the full amount of accumulation in the fund on retirement from service after attaining the age of 55 years. If a retired person is appointed and who has withdrawn his PF before joining, there is no need to contribute to PF.

Dear All, If you are employing an employee over the age of 58 yrs the he is eligible only for PF 12% and not the pension fund as per the ruling of the PF act. Regards Liz

Dear Venkat sir,
We have deduct 12% of his basic salary and instead of putting 3.67 % on PF and 8.33% on pension fund of employee we have to put 12% on pension contribution itself instead of PF. but this 12% deduction towards Pension fund is mandatory.

There is no age limit to join EPF. Only the membership of Pension fund is limited to a person having 58 years of age.In this case the professor may join EPF only and the entire amount of employer's contribution i.e. 12% will go to Provident fund only, instead of both PF & Pension fund.
