Employees of private hospitals and unaided schools are covered by ESI as per notification recently issued in this respect by Govt. of Kerala. However, this coverage is implimented in the state of Kerala. Check out whether separate notification is there in your state.

Sorry, I could not trace the notification. It was announced by the Labour Minister that Private hospital employees and employees in private (un aided) schools would be covered by ESI. The final notification on ESI to private school employees is there in the official website of Kerala Govt. Recently the Hight Court of Kerala has upheld the decision of the Government to extend coverage to unaided schools, rejecting the plea of the management of CBSE/ICSE schools. Therefore, please contact your local office for details.
