Default Training needs advice - (Would need advice from exp HR)

Hi everyonne,

I am a new HR professional who has joined an It firm.
I am handling training requirements in my company and i need to know how to start with the process.
Also if anyone can provide me with a training assessment sheet format for employees in softqare development then it would be a great help from his/her side.

Hi Ashu,

you can start your task from the performance apparisal of employees that had taken place in past. from there u can collect the requirement of training with skill rating. i hope u can understand this.

you can also collects requiremenst from Dev dept heads regarding the training requirement for their subordinates.

plz ask in case of any query.

HI Ashu,
Welcome to CHR!
The simplest ans i can share is do a gap analysis, do a study on the profile of the team-whole Knowledge,Skills,Attitude.Check their tasks and Job descriptions.. you will get a pic of where you have to go and where you are and what you will need to add on to reach the destination!
apart from questionaires/interview from team members,do check Performance appraisal reports , co mission and targets too. u can get some sort of reports from immediate supervisors/mrgs for immediate requrements..

Hi Ashu,

Here are some guidelines for u.

Start your activity with defining Training Need Identification.

There are 3 kinds of TNI
1.Pro-active
Trainings are identified before problem occurs
Data input for Pro-Active trainings
eg.--
- Appraisals ( Refer PM-HRD-
- Inter personnel skills development
- New recruitment or Induction training

2. Re-active
Trainings are identified after problem occurs
Data input for Re-Active trainings are from Data analysis
e.g.--
- Customer complaints
- Cost of Poor Quality
- Quality Rating

3. Strategic :
Company level trainings identified by Management as policy decision. ex: 5S implementation, quality circles.

Once u have identified departmental level trainings & company level training. Then prepare the Training Calendar .

Information in training Calendar
- Date of Training Need identified
- Trainer Name
- Trainees Name
- Training planned date
- Training completed date
- Effective Evaluation date & Method
- Effectiveness of training monitoring
- Training attendence sheet with signature.

Then plan Training Methods which could be one of the following:
On Job Training
Classroom Training
Literature reading
long distance training
etc.

Then plan the training evaluation methods since u have to evaluate the effectiveness of the training. Methods could:
Interview
Open discussions
Written test
Observation
On Job

For evaluation of effectiveness of training, do make urself aware with Donald Kirkpatricks four evels of Training evaluation.

I will not explain this since it has been already discussed earlier in the forum. U could go to ur top exterme left hand side corner in Quick search & type the name & get the results.

hi!
in addition to what has already been suggested please note that while doing need analysis (trg. gaps) we take care of organisational needs as well as individual needs and than design the trg. prg. accordingly. further while TNA u may got certain issues which can not be address by just training and for that some OD interventions may req. pl. do report these issue in ur report to mgmt. and do formulate the trg. objectives very carefully-this is the most crucial & imp. pont.
