Hi,

PPT is the most effective means of disseminating information in the modern world. The difference it makes is easily understood if you compare the erstwhile DOS based word processors and the current day word processors. Before making any comments i would like to ask have you ever given any presentations before the advent of the Powerpoint era! It used to be so cumbersome with the OHP and transparencies etc and lacked the interactive features of the current day PPT

As rightly said by many of the members PPT when used in a right manner is an essential part of modern day business, academics or any other domain.

If there is any propoganda going against PPT in the States it sounds baseless and waste of time

I am of the view that the presenter was not capable enough if he had to skip a few slides... Time management is very impt when u make any presentation. PPTs are very impt for learning, but the art of using them well has not been mastered by many!!

Dear All,

Using presentaion during training in only for reference not for whole reading. Like if we say type of communication method then the presentaion only highlight the name of method and the trainer expelains the the name of method. Preparing big presention for training is always boaring participents we have to use ppt but very short with some diagram, picture for clear understanding. Recently I attended a training from becon consultant - the trainer is Dolly Leung she referes the ppt only for heading and explaind the content perfectly with role play, activities, games and many other.

Hi all,
I do have a similar view that powerpoint presentations should not be banned since it is an effective method of teaching. It should be made more informative and interesting so that people will enjoy learning rather than getting bored.

Hi,

An effective trainer uses ppts, but never turns his/her back towards trainees. Its a thumb rule , trained/taught in T3 prograames that even if u write on the board/flip chart, u wudn't turn ur back towards trainees.

PPt always helps take a smooth path. I ensure, as a trainer, that I use ppts, to a minimal extent. Also, they serve as guidelines/bullet points for the trainer and the trainee, the trainer can go on explaining the points.

Also, ppts are usually prefeered and enjoyed by trainees!

Power Point is a tool only. It is upto the user, how he uses it. Effective Presntation Skills can't be replaced by the tools. Tools will only add to enhance EFFECTIVENESS.
Mix of old Gurukul system and today's advanced tools is need of today.

When it's used well the PowerPoint presentation can be a great training aid. But, when it's heavy with text and it doesn't aid understanding it's a poor tool. Like all training devices its use has to be well-executed.
