Hi Vineet

It also depends upon company policy!! My company says a probationer has 15 days notice period and an confirmed employee has 60 days... If your company has no such policy you can go ahead with your decision.

Vineet,

It depends on you appointment letter. Most of the companies will do it in one day. But, it would be fine if you can give us more information on this.

Why do you want fire employee?

Dear Vineet,

Reply to your post:

You would have mentioned termination clause in appointment letter (probation & confirmed employees). Follow as per that.

Few thoughts:

1. Why did you hire to fire.
2. Is it due to loss in business?
3. Or totally based on his nature of job?

If the cause is 2nd one, it is what all the world is facing. If it is 3rd one I really feel sorry to him. I can suggest you to have a strong recruitment policy so that it will not effect "any one's career" .
Remember hiring and immediately firing is not a good practice.

Regards,
Shiv

Hi Vineet

To fire a non productive employee it is not the correct way to ask him / her to leave in one day. He/She can counter you back that he had got no feedbacks for his non performance.

Please follow these steps and then fire:-

1) Issue a warning letter to an employee stating his / her non performance. Along with the relevant data supporting ur statement.

2) Put the employee on Performance improvement plan for 15 days.

3) Give definite targets to be achieved in those days.

4) Get a clause in Performance improvement plan that failing to achieve the targets can lead to disciplinary actions or even to termination.

5) Employee >= Target - Give him second chance in your company as he/she is genuinely trying to work

6) Employee < Target - Ask him/her to leave the organization.
