Hi All
I need one clarification. One candidate has resigned in his present company. His PM is not aceepting the same. He is saying PM told him to first complete the KT then only he will accept his resignation. He has already submitted his resignation to PM.
My Question is can I do employee verification on the same of not because I feel he is making execuses. Secondly, he is denying for the same when I asked his PM email id or contact no.
Plz... suggest what should I do?

Hi Sujata,
Verification about the employee at this stage when he has already submited his resignation is no problems at all.
But it can be a problem for him if he really is making an excuse. Once you do the verification his PM will come to know about it, that ways he may lose his job there also.
If he is not providing the contact details of his PM, there is seriously something fishy or he may not want you to talk to his PM.
I would suggest to go ahead with verification.
Cheers

Hi Sujata,

Morning

Fine, from the above I presume that you have interviewed a candidate and now you are in the process of his joining at your organisation. According to the candidate, the present employer is not accepting his resignation, and he is hesitating in giving his contact nos. right

In view of the above, we can derive :

1. The candidate is not much intereseted or is trying to play out with the offer letter you have given and trying to convince to get the said pay pacakge where he is at present working

2. As he is not giving the contact nos., it seems he might not have even submitted the resignation. As generally, professional cos, very much acknowledge the resignation and issue relieving letter accordingly.

3. You need to wait and watch and again go throu the CV and try to read between lines, it seems the candidate is not a trustworthy guy and seems to hide something and not transperant.

4. During the interviews, had you asked him about the refereal check ? or else what has he answered for this what was his answer. lot depends on this too.

5. At this point of time, you can give him a week time to revert back. and then take decision for further action. If the canidate is unalbe to give you any concrete feedback, would suggest you to go ahead with the 2nd shortlisted candidate rather than waiting and creating pressure for HR dept.

6.If the candidate is keen to quit and join you, You can inform him to submit his resignation by Reg. AD / Courier and keep the acknow / POD. This will make the present employer take actions for his relieving

Hope this shoudl suffice your Q

Rgds

Madame,
In the process of recruitment, if u r not confident and sure about the candidate forget it. However u can go to any extent even hire a outsider to confirm the facts.
