DEAR ALL... :o
THIS WRITE UP IS WITH REF: TO ARTICLE IN TOI
THERE IS A NEW CONCEPT DEVELOPING THESE DAYS THAT OF A POWER NAP...(REFERS TO TO QUICK SLEEP AT WORK PLACE). LOT OF COMPANIES IN U.S HAVE INTRODUCED THIS CONCEPT... TO IMPROVE THE PRODUCTIVITY.. OF THEIR EMPLOYEES.... COMPANIES GIVE 1/2 HOUR TIME DURATION TO TAKE A NAP.... SO THAT THEY TAKE A BREAK FROM REGULAR WORK AND RELAX....IT COULD BE AFTER LUNCH, IN THE LATE NIGHT SHIFTS...ETC... THIS CONCEPT IS GAINING POPULARITY AS STUDIES HAVE SHOWN THAT EMPLOYEES WORK BETTER AFTER A POWER NAP.....
DOES ANYONE HAVE MORE INFO. ON THIS?
OTHER WISE YOU CAN JUST POST YOUR COMMENTS ON WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS CONCEPT....WILL IT REALLY WORK IN INDIAN SCENARIO......

:D Dear Vishal,
I work for a BPO Organization where we have such 2 breaks of 15 Min. each which employees may take if they wish. Recently we conducted a small experiement to see if it helps employees .. we found that most performers did not take any break, or even if they had such time outs, they went out and had a cup of tea instead ..
Can we call it Motivation Tool or Good Practice in Ergonomics instead ?

DEAR...THESYSTHINK
I AGREE TO THAT....BUT THAT DIFFERS FRM A PERSON TO BASIS.... POWER NAP IS INTRODUCED IN BPO'S TO ENCOURAGE NEW EMPLOYESS, AS IT WOULD BE THER FIRST EXPOSURE TO WORK DURIN NIGHT....SO IT COULD HELP INCREASE THEIR MOTIATION....TOWARDS WORK... AND DNT CAUSE ATTRITION...JST BECAUSE THEY WRK IN NIGHT....

hi vishal
Do you think that this will work in the Indian Scenario? Obviously it is an question mark. the things are already there in india giving a break but the naming is just differing. I think this may not work as a motivational tool instread can satisfy the employees

Dears,
Power nap
It is good and works out well in day time for long working hours.May be 12~ 14 hrs of work.Freshness and agility is there for us.
But in night the rest for short duration will not satisfy us because of the ambience and psychological thinking.
I had more than 16 years of experience in attending night duties,in my opinion it is better to have little more rest(NAP) duration and can be compensated with extended working hours.
Thanks,
svs

In some South American countries, all establishments closed at noon and open again in the evening around five'o clock. This Reguvenate, sharp minds, high performance. Some companies in U.S have Power Nap alreay in force. Employees compet to get a couch during break..
