Hello ALL !!!
Greetings !
I have just finished reading of a book called "Blue Ocean Strategy" by KIm Chan & Reeny. In a nutshell, if I Say, it's all about finding uncontested market place for your products/services in todays competitive business environment. Can any one tell me the linkage with the stragegy with any Indian Company ? Do you know any Indian company which implemented this blue ocean strategy ?
I am eager to get the reply
Thanks
Sandy

Dear Sandy,
There are so many companies, Air Deccan is one prime example. Concept was absolutely fine ie to let enable those passengers afford air travel who can not afford it at the existing fare. Air Deccan failed due to so many factors, inefficient financial operations is one important reason.
Big Bazar is another example in India which succeeded and created a market segment of its own by attaracting the middle class buyers. It may not be a classical case of Blue Occean Strategy.
Thanks and regards,
Col Virendra

Hello Sandy,
Blue Ocean Strategy has always been a part of business all over the world, though this particular term was coined pretty recently.
Prime examples in India I would say was Nirma in the early 80s and more recently Nano cars.

Dear Sandy ,
There are so many Indian companies who have followed This strategy. Prime example is Air Deccan who by making air travel cheaper tried to attarct those travellers who were in no position to travel by air because of higher fare. It failed because of poor and inefficient operations including financial mess.
Bada Bazar is another example, so is the Reliance communication specially the idea on which it was based. These may not be classical example but Air Deccan is classical of Blue Occean Strategy.
