Neha,

How long to keep learning and spending money on education? All that we learn may or maynot help us in the long run. Sometimes irrelevant jobs may knock your door with good salalry. For that reason you cannot immediately enrol in a course. Many job opportunities pass by us and we have to let it go deliberately.

People would say, 'Grab the opportunity that comes and don't say no'. For freshers this is okay but for an experience person, this is not applicable.

I will tell you an incident from my experience. Recently, I got an offer from a gulf based Telecom Infra company locally. The CEO found me to be competent in everything and compelled me to take his offer 'Head - Supply Chain Management' on a salary of 65K.

Oops.!!..when I thought he was going to give me a good title in HR ... my god... it was the other. I wondered how is he offering this to me who knew nothing about SCM or its basics. For that reason all of a sudden I cannot enrol at IIPM for PG Dip. in Supplychain, Logistics and Warehouse Mgmt. That is not my cup of tea. I may excel or fail in this new profile. I can only be a learner and not a performer in this new field.

So we have to think logically and practically before choosing a different job. Hope I have explained much.

Hi Neha
In my opinion, you should try out the course. As you are working in this field for six months, I hope u have liked the job profile. Since HR needs a lot of patience and interpersonal skill, and you are from a different field but u have already adjusted to this field.
So , it is expected u would stay in HR for your rest of the life. Therefore , you are still young and can try out the course.
But since HR is a very vast field i would rather ask u to go for some short term courses on HR i.e courses on Human Behaviours,Labour Laws etc of six months to 1 yr.
Best wishes for you in this new area.

Hi Neha
Learning is a unending process and so you must keep updating knowledge. Any learning just for a qualifications sake naturally will not add any value to anyone not only in your career but to you as a person
So decide firmly on your mind what is your future career goal. Then pursue studies accordingly. But don't give up studies ever.
All the very best

Dear Neha..
As per my knowledge and experience i want to suggest you that it would be good for you to continue in the field of HR as working in marketing is sometimes difficuld for girls due to family constrants...i feel dt you should do the PGDHRM and we have to learn things at the end of our age...
PG course would be better then any short term courses
yes, degree or diploma do matter in any field...itz addition in your qualification as well.
if you want to earn something then you have to spend...dnt worry if things goes in a right way you ll earn much more then what you spend... all the best

Hey Neha,
If you are planning to work in the same organisation for next 7-8 years, there is no need to get enrolled for a heavy HR course (PGDHRM etc).
:idea:But if you are looking for a change in near future, then plz enroll in a formal course of 1yr or so. As others said, it might not be necessarily adding a value in your performance (like MBA Mkt or Fin. working as HR) but it will definitely help your profile get shortlisted at the intial stage (thats what I used to do in a recruitment agency as cos. direct instructions are, look ONLY for MBA HRs).
*Open for critical feedback.
Cheers,

Hi Neha,
Since you already have done a full time PGDBM course and you wnt to be ion HR (am assuming dat), I would suggest you go for a PGDHRM from NMIMS.
Rather than doing a six mnths/1yr coursein HR which is not helpful for your resume, I would suggest a 2yr distance PG since you dont wanna go for FT course.
Personally I think a specialistion in HR doesnt matter as at the end of te day HR professional shld be customer oriented, empathetic and open to change. THere are many HR professionals who dont show any kind of empathy towards the employee and just have a PG in HR from a FT course.
But sadly the recruitments guys or the top HR guys want ppl who have donme someting in HR.
Hope des comments help.
Rgds,
Ranjit
