Dear Nalini,
An answer to such a direct question is difficult to find in such forums. Only a formal compensation survey can give you an exact answer. However, I have an idea which may help you with your question. This trick has worked for me on quite a few occasion.
Log on to naukri.com or any other jobsite. Type in the keywords in the search option for the position you have mentioned. When the results appear, sort out those where the salary band is mentioned. You'll have some idea about what others are paying. Let me know if I make sense.
Good luck

Dear Ash Mathew,
Yes i tried it as i have mentioned earlier too.. but cant get an appropriate answer.. the salaries are not mentioned in the jobs posted on net..n if some companies have mentioned they have mentioned just around..Rs.12000...Rs.16000, etc..some have mentioned a bit more then that..and i cant digest that, keeping in mind the size and reputation of the company..and yes candidates experience too...the company is enormously big and the candidate is also efficient. the salaries i mentioned here for the people who are freshers as they ask hardly 2-5 yrs experience nad this is the reason im unable to calculate..:-(.
I hope someone can help me before tomorrow afternoon.
Still thanx..

Hi,
Find attachment on Admin level people with 2 - 5yrs experience. I have taken only consideration of metro cities and the company.
There is info on the salary too. The average comes somewhere between 2.2 and 2.4
Anyways, pls check for urself and maybe u want to remove a few positions / companies and do it urself and see. Hope this helps!
Thanks

See in my opinion if you are looking for someone as Sr. Administrator and as you say its a company of repute then you should not hire someone less than 6 yrs of experience and with atleast B.com qualification or equivalent. The salary would range taking current recession market conditions something
Minimum - Rs. 4.5 Lacs
Average - Rs. 5.25 lacs
Maximum Rs. 6 Lacs
You have to take into account the current inflation as well as the state's consumer pricing index into account. Bangalore is even costlier than Delhi...hence in my opinion since prices of commodities and living are high hence salaries are also high as compared to other states being the IT hub state. Hence nothing less than Rs. 4 Lacs should be given to him otherwise he would work for sometime and leave after sometime as there would be companies who would be in a position to pay him the salary you are offering...so take all aspects into account before you decide....
