We all know that it is mandatory to close offices on the day of voting. And there is a legal penalty on opening office that day.

If we give OFF to Employees on the Voting Day, can we compensate it with working on some other day?

Early Response would be highly appreciated

in my state(orissa) voting had already completed. we get a circular to closed the factory on that day from labour office. but since we r in manufacturing unit so we instead of giving holiday we give flexibility to our staffs and workers those who r coming in A shift then give there vote in second half and those have b shift they gave in A sift no problem for c shift. for general sift we give flexibilty they can come late or early after working half day early or half day late. since we can't force any one to come and closed the unit that day. if we forced any one they can have the right to complained in labour office since it declared as a National holiday.

There should be at least half day leave for the voting, as its our fundamental right. And our daily life depends on the ruling government. So we should decide the government. Blaming the wrong and corrupt leaders is of no use if we don't vote. And going beyond Voting should be mandatory for each.

Employees are entitled to take upto two hours of paid leave. They also may take an additional two hours of unpaid leave, if necessary, to have four consecutive hours off while the polls are open.

As per "Negotiable instruments Act" all employees of the organization should be given Min 2 hrs off, on poll day so that they can cast their vote. This is organization discretion that they want to keep full day off or declare it compensatory off.
In order to make sure that work schedule doesn’t get disturbed due to this undesigned holiday, we are working on 9th of May Saturday full day in lieu of, off on poll day.
