Hi Folks I have a query Suppose a employee joins an organisation on 12/06/99. His salary details are given below Basic:13000 DA :4000 The employee expires before completing five years of service. can anybody tell me how much gratuity have to be paid to the nominee.whether the Basic and DA will be taken as same and gratiuity will be calculated for the enitre service period which the employee was suppose to complete. rgds SLN

dear he has to be paid gratuity for the service he has renendered.basic+DA will be taken into consideration while calculating gratuity. tks j s malik

Dear friend, In case of death of an employee, 5yrs continious service criteria for payment of gratuity is not required. Gratuity shall be paid up to the period emloyee has worked before death. Thanks mahesh pandey

First of let me know one thing. Is gratuity fund is maintenained by employer or any outside agency like LIC etc.. 1. If employee is maintainaing, he needs to pay only for the service employee has rendered (BASIC + DA has to be taken for calculatin purpose) 2. If it is maintained by LIC or some other insurance company, Have taken insurance scheme or only gratuity. If insurance coverage is there then insurance company will pay the gratuity upto the superannuation age. I hope it is clear. siva
