Please let me know if doing PGDBA-HR through SCDL (Symbiosis Centre for Distant Learning) has any value at all. Will this be considered while recruiting as this is a correspondence course?

Dear,
wherever u r doing a distance course, will not give u a edge as regular can do.
But still, i would like to say, usuallt people opt for distance courses when they engaged in work. to get promotion, value addtion people does.
there is nothing about scdL, smu.. both provide distance education MBA.
I think now it is easy to understand.

Hi ,
Many people are doing the SCDL course .But my personal opinion
is as it is just a PG diploma it can not be compared to MBA.
if one is having experience then its ok.otherwise as a fresher having
done course from SCDL to start up its tough .
Doing masters from government universities like annamalai or madhurai
kamraj which give 'Masters' is much better .Distance learning from SCDL
is mostly done today just for the sake of brand name Symbosis.
But in the long run i feel doing masters from govt universities is better.
(even distance learning)

Hi All,
Thanks a lot for your valuable comments.
Could you also please let me know if this (PGDBA from SCDL) should be added under "educational Qualification" in our resume or should we add it under "Additional qualification" section in the resume?

Hi:icon1:
This is FYI that I had completed my SCDL PGDBM course 2007 and I got promoted in my current organisation. Doing a course from reputed university/institute always gives you a advantage in future.

Pls note regular MBA from good institutes have no match with a distance learning courses. Moreover Regular will always have an edge for DL courses. In case you have a good experience say ranging from 4 to 10 years then only opt for DL courses. Preferably u do a DL from anywhere it enjoys the same amount of weightage as with experience it just a formality and after all the knowledge counts..hence its PG or MBA both have the same weightage from DL...hope it would give u an insight of what to do now.....

With the market being competitive, that is when there are a lot of qualified people who have done full-time MBAs from good Management Schools, the value for distance courses is very low. I have personally worked with people who have done this course and I do not think it is worth the while.
While it is right to believe how much you know and what you do with it is what matters, the knowledge/exposure that comes from courses is very limited, unless one is willing to put extraordinary efforts to learn the subject by reading extensively (beyond the course material).
If you are keen on attaining a good qualification try to do at least a part time course - you can try PGCHRM from XLRI for which classes are conducted through out India through Reliance Web World or Hughes Direcway.

All formal University Education is valid in India and abroad...
You have to see how much knowledge this education elevate your capability because afterall performance is measurement. Even people from IIM/IIT kind of institutes are not capable to perform in the field... because they are only theoritically good but practically failure...

Dear All,
It dose not depend whether u are doing MBA full time or DL ,it all depends upon u how u are working in your organization , ur attitude, ur dedication, IQ and how much knowledge u can fit in ur brain.U must have seen students frm grt convent school's don't come in merit having all the facilities but a student from muncipalty come frist; Why????
Only bcoz of dedication and zeal to achieve something in life....
Suggestion are welcome!
Cheers!
