Re: HR and Finance
hi sweety & ash...
I read all the posts...U have already done ur mba in hr and finance bt mine 2ns yr is yet to startr. I want to do hr and mba as dual splization bt somehow I hv d option to choose one (colege constraints). I have interests in bnoth bt ppl ard say that there is very less scope for guys in hr. so everyone is pursuing me to tk up finance.
Currently Im doing my intern in HR to get the feel whet5her I cn really do well in this field..or elseI"ll switch over to finance.
If I intend to take up HR as a splization, I"ll tk up banking alongiwth it.

Plz do suggest me that whether my decision is appropriate???

Dear Varun,

I chose HR and Marketing as I knew from my first year MBA itself that finance was no way my cup of tea!

But the curren5t econimic scenario does nt promise a fair opportunity for freshers. Be it Marketing or HR or Finance...

So, to be on the safer side... do ur internship project in HR field with all passion in it.

I would suggest you to do a part time course (from a reputed organization in Human Resources field) and select finance in your MBA as specialization.

And in finance - pls pls dont just learn formulaes alone - ask ur lecturer why that particular topic is useful, where it can be used, the benefits... all related to it. Because employers dont want first rank holders who can say formulaes within seconds, they want u to apply the learning and do some good analysis and provide suggesstions. Please request case study methodology.

And for HR part time corses: consult with seniors from HR field on which institute is gud.

Good Luck!

Good Luck Sweety!

Lemme know wat happened. DOn mug the answers - understand the usage of it - else u will just goof it and remember - people out there are nt interviewing u for fun. Its a serious job and if they get pissed off they may nt listen to anything.

Sometimes its gud to be true and say that u just have learnt it during ur academic period.

I would suggest - look for HR Opportunities, as thats where u seem to know how to take it forward.

Good Luck!

Good Luck Rafi!

Be wise in chosing the opportunities. DOnt just go for the first job offer you get. Attend as many as possible as u r a fresher. Compare and see which one is financially strong, and the real purpose of hiring u.
Because at the end you dont want to hurt urself.
If I come across more specific finance related questions - I will surely email u
