Hi
At the outset, Wishing you a Very Happy New Year.
I would like to know is it compulsory that Casual Leave cannot be taken for more than 3 days continously, if yes please specify the reason
As in our company if an employee is on leave for more than 3 or 5 days we club this leave into Casual Leave.
Please help me out in drafting the Leave polciy.
With Best Regards,
Parab:)

i think there is no hard and fast rules that only max of 3 days of CL can be sanctioned. a max of 10 days of CL inclusive of any public holidays or weekly of can be sanctioned. if there are no public holidays, maximum of 9 days of CL can be sanctioned as 1 sunday falls in between.

Dear Parab,
Basically casual leaves are not mandatory by law, it is mutual understanding in between management and employee. Logically thinking casual leave can be availed only in the circumstances which come forward suddenly as such any ceremony, function, death of relative, hospitalization of any friend or relative etc.
hence it may be availed for 1 to 2 days. There is no any specific rule but logic is there. This type of leaves entered in the organization or factory through settlement, agreement with union. or otherwise it does not matter if c.l. is not maintained in organization. Earned leaves are mandatory under The factories Act, which is 1 for 20 working days subject to completion of 240 days.
